A Visit to Kerala Arts and Crafts Village
As part of B.Ed. curriculum, field trip is prescribed for the student teachers. In the course of the second semester, we went Kerala Arts and Crafts Village, Vellar. It is a place dedicated to craft, art and artisanship. The village celebrates the rich, diverse and multifarious craft traditions of South Asia. It spread across 8.5 acres in the beautiful village of Vellar, near Kovalam. It is a place to showcase the skills and talents of the artisans of various regions. The place exhibits the major arts and crafts of almost all states of India. It serves a major tourist attraction.
It was really a great opportunity for the prospective teachers to visit this amazing world of arts and crafts. It opened to us a realm of different varieties of arts and crafts which mesmerized us through its beauty. We were also astonished by the makers of those arts and were eager to see the manufacturing of some. On a whole, the trip was an eye opener to the world of arts and crafts of various different states of India.
