The Teaching Practice

 As part of B.Ed curriculum, there are two teaching phases, one in semester 3 and the other one in semester four. Teaching practice is regarded as that phase where the student teachers get mould into teachers. It is the practical application of the theory learnt in the first two semesters.


The teaching practice started on 21st August 2024 and a group of 10 student teachers were allotted to BNV Vocational and Higher Secondary School.The leader of the group is Saranya of Social Science optional. We gathered there at 9.00 am and signed the attendance book infront of the HM. She gave us directions and also the duties to be done. I was assigned the class 8 B and most the time was spent for getting familiarised with the students. I started the lesson The Little Round Red House by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey but couldn't complete the lesson plan. We got accustomed with the surroundings of the school and the discipline duties to be carried out. 




The next day, I completed the lesson plan and also carried out the noon feed duty. The school was busy preparing for the DEO visit and we were supposed to manage the classes in the absence of the teachers.



The third day was a lightly busier day as the class in charge  teachers took the duties of their respective classes till afternoon. I got the first period in 8 B and I took the class in the presence of the class teacher, so the students became manageable to an extent. Later on, we did the works related to the teaching practice and also carried out the duties assigned to us.

 On 4th of December, I noticed that the school stage is being decorated using stars. Soon teachers told that there is assembly. After the prayer, the Principal of VHSS section announced the venture of plus one students- the making of Christmas star by the vocational students solar LED technician course. The Principal handed the star to the Principal of HS section. The innovative model was prepared for the topic adverbs indicating the kinds of adverbs including the kinds of adverbs including adverbs of manner, frequency, relative adverbs etc. I just want to exhibit the types using an attractive means. I prepared the aid using multiwood and colour papers.  Presenting the innovative aid  I conducted achievement test and 21 students wrote the test. Innovative lesson

As part of B.Ed. curriculum, an innovative work has been prepared for the second teaching phase.  The innovative model was prepared for the topic adverbs indicating the kinds of adverbs including the kinds of adverbs including adverbs of manner, frequency, relative adverbs etc. I just want to exhibit the types using an attractive means. I prepared the aid using multiwood and colour papers.  Presenting the innovative aid The students were so interested to read and understand the types of adverbs. I asked them to rotate it and read aloud.

Teaching Practice Phase 2 Week 4

 The main event of this week was the school tour of 10th standard students to Munnar and Wonder la. The classes went so well because the students were so active and interested to know the rest of the story. Students were eager to know what happened to the nightingale. The students worried about the sacrifice she has done for the young student. They responded well to the picture story. I think showing showing the picture story is really effective in transacting the story and also helpful for conducting the class without much boredom. The use of good marks also acts as great reinforcement. On 27th November, I took Advance Organizer model on the topic pronouns. The teacher educator came for observation. I used the strategy of moving from known to unknown which the teacher educator specially mentioned.
